What Pride Month Means to Brighton & Hove

To quote the Brighton & Hove City Council, ‘pride is a celebration of our fabulous and treasured LGBTQ+ residents and visitors. It’s also a protest and a reminder that we have much more to do to achieve equality for all. Brighton & Hove is the LGBTQI+ capital of the UK – that’s who we are and who we’re proud to be’.

In August, everyone in Brighton and Hove come together and celebrate the LGBTQ community in a range of exciting and fantastical events, centred around loving one another. So, what does this Brighton Pride month 2024 have in store?

Brighton i360 Pride Event

On the upper deck at the Brighton i360 is our highlight of the summer. We believe that Brighton Pride is a day full of love, acceptance and of course, good vibes. Not only will we be joined by the amazing supporting act  Gaydio’s Kriss Herbert on the 4th of August 2024, but we will also have the iconic drag queen and party starter, Jodie Harsh

Known for her amazing music mixes and infectious energy, Jodie will be taking us all on a drag-tastic journey and will be sure to get you dancing. From Pacha Ibiza to Wembley Stadium, Printwords and Warehouse Project, Jodie Harsh has been all around the globe and we are so excited to be hosting her at the Brighton i360 this pride. If that wasn’t enough, we will also be joined by Brighton’s own local Lizzie Curious to start off the party.

The Main Stage at Preston Park

For Brighton Pride 2024, it has been announced in a BBC article that Girls Aloud and Mika have been confirmed as headliners. On the main stage in Preston Park, on the 3rd and 4th of August 2024, these two amazing artists will be joining in on the Brighton festivities.

Other acts have also been confirmed for the festival, including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Billy Porter and S Club and many more. So, before rocking out to Jodie Harsh at 6pm-10pm, you can head on over to the main stage at Preston Park.

The Iconic Pride Parade

Would it be Brighton Pride without the iconic parade? Taking place on the 3rd of August 2024, the theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Joy, celebrating life and resilience’. The pride parade always has an amazing turn-out with so many celebrating what this month means to us as a collective and as a city.

The annual Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade showcases a vibrant mix of city charities, community groups, local businesses, blue light services, and official Brighton & Hove Pride partners. This beloved and colourful carnival of diversity, free for all to enjoy, kicks off Saturday’s festivities and leads to our main community fundraising event, Fabuloso in the Park, held in Preston Park.
