Did you know the last coronation of a British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, took place 70 years ago? Although the ceremony has remained largely unchanged for over 1,000 years, the way Brits across the country will choose to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla will certainly look a lot different to 1953.
Whether you’re a royalist through and through or are just chuffed to have an extra day off in May (fingers crossed for a spot of sunshine), we’ve rounded up the best ways to make the most of the Coronation Bank Holiday in Brighton:
Enjoy our Coronation Cream Tea at West Beach Restaurant (5th – 8th May)
West Beach Bar and Kitchen is now operated by Sixes – discover Sixes Social Cricket Brighton.
Tuck into a quintessentially British afternoon treat on our restaurant’s beachfront terrace during the Bank Holiday weekend!
Our special limited-edition Ticket and Coronation Cream Tea package includes a Brighton i360 trip above the city before embracing tradition in West Beach with a choice of Coronation Chicken or Chickpea sandwich and scone. Why not add a glass of Nyetimber’s award-winning English Sparkling Wine and turn up the celebratory atmosphere to 450ft?
Don’t have a head for heights? You can still enjoy our special limited-edition, (and iconic Coronation-themed) Cream tea menu on its own from West Beach restaurant. Pop inside West Beach to pre-book!
(Vg/gf option available. Kids Coronation cream tea option also available)
Watch the Coronation on the big screen at Jubilee Square (Saturday 6th May)
Get your front-row seat to the upcoming historical event and watch the Coronation live on the big screen at Jubilee Square! Keep an eye out for any local Coronation ‘Big Lunches’ and street parties being held across the city too, the perfect Bank Holiday activity for the whole family. (We’ll pack the picnic!)
Toast to the new era (or just the Bank Holiday!) 450ft above Brighton at the Sky Bar
The Bank Holiday weekend is the perfect excuse to say cheers with us at The South Coast’s highest bar on our Pod. Whether you’re toasting to the Coronation of Their Majesties or just that extra day away from the office, our Sky Bar has everyone’s drink of choice.
