The i360, one of Brighton’s top attractions, was built with sustainability at its heart and the team is committed to delivering responsible operations throughout the business. This is demonstrated in careful environmentally friendly practices and site management, ethical recruitment and people policies, traceable local supply chains, meaningful community relationships and a business model which delivers back to the city of Brighton & Hove.
The team at Brighton i360 is proud to call Brighton and Sussex home and always strives to support local businesses and suppliers wherever possible. From stocking local produce in our shop to serving it at the Nyetimber Sky Bar and i360 Café, Brighton i360 is always looking for new ways to support the local Brighton community. Having given out over 40,000 free tickets to local schools, Brighton i360 hopes to inspire the next generation of Brightonians to see their city from a different perspective. Additionally, we look to support local charities, having worked with over 1,000 charities since opening.
With an ethos of supporting local businesses, the Nyetimber Sky Bar is almost exclusively stocked with suppliers from Brighton and Sussex. From award-winning English sparkling wine Sussex vineyard, Nyetimber; ‘distilled-beside-the-seaside’ Brighton Gin; Blackdown Vodka from the South Downs and Folkington’s tonic and fruit juice – there’s something for everyone. Additionally, many of the delicious and fresh ingredients served at the i360 Sea View Cafe are from Sussex & Brighton suppliers.
Over 50% of the beautiful and unique gifts stocked in the beachside gift shop have been created by local artists and makers from around Sussex, including ethical clothing brands, stylish prints and cards, lifestyle books, recycled children’s toys and more!
Did you know that our attraction is powered from 100% renewable energy sources? Across the site, only green energy is used, everything is powered by electricity, even in the events kitchen! All lighting onsite is LED, and the building has timed energy start and finish times and the building power is shut down at night with a few lighting exceptions.
The air conditioning units reduce to 40% capacity when the pod doors open so air-conditioned air wastage is limited. Even the Brighton i360 Pod contributes to the energy saving goal. More than 50% of the energy required to power the pod upwards is captured every time the pod comes down – meaning every third journey is self-powered!
At Brighton i360 we prioritise environmentally conscious practices, ensuring that all our waste is either recycled or disposed of responsibly, meaning nothing goes to landfill. All glass, cardboard and food waste is always recycled. By committing to these eco-friendly promises, we aim to contribute towards a zero waste future.
As part of our mission to keep the beaches of Brighton clean we’re dedicated to reducing our plastic waste. With no single use plastic used at the Nyetimber Sky Bar or in the Gift Shop.
