We are thrilled to announce that we have received Silver from the Green Tourism Business Scheme – the leading sustainable tourism certification scheme.
This award recognises the commitment of tourism businesses which are actively working to become more sustainable in how they operate and interact with customers, the wider community, and the environment.
“We’re really proud to win this award as our team is committed to delivering responsible operations throughout our business. BA i360 Viewing Tower was built and is operated with sustainability at heart. We generate our own electricity, use only green energy, buy local and dispose of waste responsibly. We look forward to continuing our commitment to celebrating the environment we live in and finding eco-friendly solutions where possible and look forward to working towards receiving a gold award next year”, says Ian Hart, Chief Operating Officer.
The Green Tourism Awards are acknowledged worldwide as a hallmark of ‘green quality’ and indicator of good environmentally-friendly practices amongst tourism businesses.
All the ways we are a sustainable business:
Supporting Local:
We’re proud to call Brighton and Sussex home and love to support local businesses and suppliers.
Nyetimber Sky Bar
Drink in the views at 450ft with a locally sourced drink from the South Coast’s highest Bar, the Sky Bar. From award-winning English Sparkling Wine from local Sussex vineyard, Nyetimber, beer from the oldest independent brewery in Sussex, Harvey’s Brewery, ‘distilled-beside-the-seaside’ Brighton Gin, Blackdown Vodka from the South Downs and Folkington’s tonic and fruit juice from nearby orchards – there’s something for everyone.
Gift Shop
Over 40% of the beautiful and useful gifts we stock in our beachside gift shop have been created by local artists and makers from around Sussex, including ethical clothing, stylish prints and cards, deli worthy jams, chutneys, children’s toys and more!
West Beach Bar & Kitchen
West Beach Bar and Kitchen is now operated by Sixes – discover Sixes Social Cricket Brighton.
We’re passionate about serving our guests delicious dishes with ingredients sourced from local suppliers across Sussex. Some of these include sustainably sourced fish from Fish Galore, freshly baked bread from Real Patisserie Bakery in Hove, organic free-range eggs from Macs Farm in Ditchling, and mouth-watering pork pies from Brighton Sausage Company.
So you can enjoy a drink with a view, savour every delicious bite, or pick up a souvenir or gift, safe in the knowledge that you’re helping to support our local community!
Green Energy:
Did you know that our attraction is powered from 100% renewable energy sources? More than 50% of the energy required to power the pod upwards is captured every time the pod comes down – meaning every third flight is self-powered!
Zero waste:
We ensure that all our waste is either recycled or disposed of responsibly, meaning nothing goes to landfill.
No pointless plastic:
As part of our mission to keep the beaches of Brighton clean we’re dedicated to reducing our plastic waste.
Living Wage Champions:
We’re proud to be a Local Living Wage employer with more than 80% of staff living within 5 miles of the attraction.
