With the end of May’s numerous bank holidays (how many?) in sight, we’re turning our attention to another jam-packed set of summer months in our city.

Here’s our definitive guide to Brighton and Hove’s best Summer 2023 events:

MAY

The Great Escape Festival – Various venues across the city

10th-13th May 2023

Only in Brighton would you find bands like FEET, Lip Filler and Fat Dog under one geographical roof.

The hottest up-and-coming artists from across the world, are once again, set to grace our BN postcodes in May for one of the UK’s most prolific city festivals.

Think SXSW, minus the 10-hour flight and unpredictable Texas thunderstorms. Add a trip to Horatio’s on Brighton Palace Pier followed by a stroll across Brighton Beach to the Amazon New Music stage and you’ve once again got yourself another unmissable Great Escape.

With more local and international talent than you can shake a drumstick at, you’ll find us in the crowd for Lime Garden, CIEL, Larkins and Abigail Asante.

Haven’t managed to grab a ticket in time? The Alt Escape is a free alternative and runs parallel to the main festival, with volatile newcomers Porchlight, Flat Party and Trueman

and the Indoor League on the bill.

Van Gogh Alive – The Experience – Brighton Dome

Open Date TBC

Brighton is soon to welcome the world’s most popular immersive, multi-sensory art experience, Van Gogh Alive. In a kaleidoscope of colour, the set of installations have already welcomed 8.5 million visitors in 80 cities across the globe and give the viewer the chance to truly step into the life and work of Dutch artist, Vincent van Gogh.

Brighton’s run will include never seen before additions to the state-of-the-art exhibit, with visitors being the first to experience a brand new ‘Starry Night’ installation.

Meander through beyond life-size ‘Sunflowers’, have a go at replicating his unique art-style, and probably get a little teary (yes, like that one Dr Who episode).
